Hostel Tabor is ideally located in the heart of Ljubljana, making it a perfect choice for travelers wishing to explore the city’s main attractions on foot. From the very city center, it’s just a short walk to numerous cultural and historical sites.

One of the most iconic attractions nearby is Prešeren Square, a lively city center surrounded by charming cafés and historic buildings. From there, a stroll across Plečnik’s Triple Bridge leads into the old town, where you can walk along the Ljubljanica River, explore narrow medieval streets, and discover hidden gems such as the Town Hall or Robba Fountain.

Ljubljana Castle, overlooking the city, is also within easy reach. You can reach it on foot via an easy trail or take the funicular from the old town. Additionally, the unique eco-friendly Urban train connects all main attractions along an attractive circular route.

Our hostel is also close to the central Ljubljana market, where visitors can explore diverse local culinary offerings, and Tivoli Park, the city’s largest green oasis – perfect for relaxation, a short stroll, or a quick escape from the urban bustle.

Hostel Tabor’s strategic location ensures easy access to Ljubljana’s main sights while providing comfortable and affordable accommodation. It is less than a 10-minute walk from the main bus and train stations.

For a quick escape from the city, the Ljubljana Marshes offer beautiful wetland paths, perfect for birdwatching or leisurely walks. Don’t miss the Church of St. Michael, a work by the renowned architect Jože Plečnik, a true oasis of peace in the midst of nature.

When the weather isn’t ideal, don’t worry – Slovenia is home to some of the most magnificent underground attractions. Postojna Cave is one of Europe’s largest and most famous cave systems, full of stunning stalactites and stalagmites. For an equally breathtaking experience, visit the Škocjan Caves, a UNESCO World Heritage site with a dramatic underground canyon. On the way, you can also stop by the Lipica Stud Farm, home of the elegant Lipizzaner horses – a paradise for animal lovers.

Lake Bled is a must-see spot! You can stroll around the lake, row to the island, or hike up to the castle for stunning views. If you're looking for an extra adventure, don't miss Vintgar Gorge, a short hike from Bled, where you’ll find gorgeous waterfalls and crystal-clear waters – perfect for a nature-filled Instagram shot!

For hiking enthusiasts, Lake Bohinj is a true gem in the heart of Triglav National Park. It is an ideal starting point for hikers and campers wishing to explore alpine nature. You can stroll around the lake or venture into the surrounding hills and mountains. Don’t miss the Savica Waterfall, with its characteristic twin streams that truly mesmerize. For a panoramic view, take the gondola up to Vogel – the sight of the lake and surrounding peaks is breathtaking.

If you’re drawn to charming medieval towns with beautiful natural surroundings, Kamnik is an excellent choice. A little further on, the gondola from the foothills of the Kamnik-Savinja Alps takes you to Velika Planina, an alpine plateau perfect for hiking, exploring shepherds’ huts, or simply enjoying nature and panoramic views. Don’t forget to try the handmade trnič cheese, a delicious snack and an integral part of the region’s cultural heritage.

For those attracted to the sea, head to the medieval town of Piran. Narrow streets, picturesque buildings, and summer seaside views will not disappoint. The town is rich in history and culture, and you can enjoy exquisite Mediterranean cuisine, from fresh seafood to authentic Istrian olive oil and fine local wine – a true treat for the palate.
After visiting Piran, explore nearby Izola and Portorož, relax on the beaches, swim, or simply bask in the sun. The Slovenian coast also comes alive at night, with concerts, lively nightlife, and a vibrant seaside atmosphere.

For a short city escape, the Ljubljana Marshes offer scenic wetland trails, ideal for birdwatching or relaxed walks. Be sure to visit the Church of St. Michael, designed by the famous architect Jože Plečnik, a sacred oasis of tranquility within this landscape park.

Iški Vintgar, a hidden gem with lush greenery and numerous pools, provides a peaceful retreat from urban hustle. The waterfalls in the gorge near Borovnica, just a few dozen kilometers away, add a touch of mystery, making it a perfect excursion for those seeking paths off the usual tourist track.
